Cleaning out the Closet-Literally and Figuratively

With the changes in my life, I made a decision. To clean out my closets and basement. Over the past 2 weeks I have been cleaning out, looking at items of old, throwing junk that has accumulated away, donating clothes that no longer fit and household items we have no use for.

Everything I have looked at has a memory of some kind. Even when I had my daughter go through her items, we found old pictures going all the way back to a different life in Washington, where we lived before. The discussion of items, what we will purge. Old paperwork from jobs and a career gone by, photos from school, letters from old friends, etc. Some things we kept, some things I decided it was time to let go of. Memories, feelings, all present as we clean out the old to make way for the present.

I have written, many times, over the past months about transitions and changes. Going through these items brings back the idea of....aren't we just always in a constant place of change, transition and moving? As this year begins to wind down, I have been very reflective....As I sit..and just allow the memories, the feelings of then and today, wash over my mind...I am reminded, where I was throughout my life...the mistakes I made, the successes I celebrated, the present time...where so much is to be embraced.

Have a Happy Sunday

Debbie
